Rosacea

WHAT IS ROSACEA?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes redness, inflammation, and bumps on the face, typically on the cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin. It may also cause burning or stinging sensations and dry, flaky skin. Rosacea can be triggered by a variety of factors, including sun exposure, stress, alcohol consumption, certain foods, and hot or cold weather. While there is no cure for rosacea, it can be managed with medications and lifestyle changes.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a non-invasive treatment that can effectively treat rosacea. IPL works by emitting light of various wavelengths that target and remove the damaged blood vessels just beneath the skin that cause the redness and inflammation associated with rosacea.

The light energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, and over time, they shrink and fade away.IPL can also stimulate collagen production, which improves skin texture and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE TREATMENT?

During PL treatment for rosacea, our somatologist will use a laser device to deliver pulses of light to targeted areas of your skin. The treatment typically lasts around 30 minutes and may cause some discomfort.

You may experience a warm, tingling sensation during the treatment, but it should not be painful. Your skin may also look slightly red or swollen immediately after the procedure, but this typically subsides within a few hours to a day.

IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?

IPL treatment may cause some discomfort or a mild burning sensation similar to snapping a rubber band against the skin. Pain tolerance may vary from person to person, but some individuals may experience more intense discomfort than others.

Most people find IPL treatment tolerable and may choose cooling gels to minimize any discomfort.

AFTER THE TREATMENT

Generally, after an IPL treatment for rosacea, there may be some temporary redness, swelling, and mild discomfort in the treated areas. This can last for a few hours to a day or two, depending on the sensitivity of your skin and the intensity of the treatment.

HOW MANY SESSIONS

Generally, most patients need 2 to 4 sessions of treatment to achieve optimal results, with each session lasting 15 to 30 minutes. However, some patients may need more sessions depending on the severity of their condition and their individual response to the treatment.

The sessions are usually spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal and recover.
