Hand Rejuvenation

WHAT CAUSES AGING HANDS AND WHY IS HAND REJUVENATION IMPORTANT?

The hands are exposed to environmental influences that lead to the inevitable skin damage over time. We wash our hands more than any other part of our body, which strips the natural oils and moisture as we constantly remove impurities from our hands.

Although the skin on our hands is resilient enough to withstand everyday abuse, repeated handwashing without proper hydration ultimately causes the hands to appear dry and aged.

As we age, we lose collagen, which leads to the loss of the elasticity that once existed within the epidermal layers of the skin. Loss of collagen promotes the loosening of the skin, making it appear thin and crepey. Collagen and elastin are proteins that contribute to the resiliency of skin quality by providing the dermis with the flexibility it needs for movements that allow the skin to stretch and contract.

Fotona Starwalker & Fotona TimeWalker 4D

Laser skin rejuvenation is a procedure that uses a laser to heat the deeper layers of the skin and stimulate collagen production. Collagen is a protein that gives skin its structure and elasticity.

By increasing collagen, laser skin rejuvenation can improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars, sun damage, and other skin conditions. Laser skin rejuvenation is different from laser skin resurfacing, which removes the outer layers of the skin and causes more side effects.

Nordlys Candela IPL

IPL stands for intense pulsed light, a type of light therapy that can help improve the appearance of various skin conditions. IPL works by emitting multiple wavelengths of light that heat and destroy damaged skin cells or hair follicles.

The body then removes the damaged tissue naturally, leaving behind smoother and more even skin. IPL can treat wrinkles, spots, scars, spider veins, and unwanted hair on different parts of the body.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE TREATMENT?

Before the procedure begins, your Somatologist will discuss your goals for the treatment to ensure it’s safe and appropriate for you.

The treatment area will be cleaned and, if preferred by the client, numbing cream may be applied to minimise discomfort.

The laser device will then be applied to the skin on the hands, delivering targeted energy to areas of aging, sun damage, age spots or discoloration on the skin.

The level of pain experienced during the treatment varies from person to person depending on their pain tolerance level and the type of laser used. Some may also experience mild soreness or sensitivity in the treated areas, but this typically subside within a few days.

AFTER THE TREATMENT

After the procedure, there may be some redness, swelling, and skin peeling or flaking for a few days.

Over time, you can expect to see an improvement in the appearance of the hands as the laser stimulates collagen production to improve skin texture, tone and elasticity, leading to more youthful-looking hands.

HOW MANY SESSIONS

Typically, multiple sessions are required for laser hand rejuvenation. The number of sessions required may vary depending on the individual’s skin condition and the type of laser used for treatment.

It is best to consult with your Somatologist to determine the appropriate treatment plan for your specific needs.
